HONEY

About

HONEY, the cryptocurrency of the Hivemapper Network, is used to reward contributors and purchase network data. It was built on top of the Solana blockchain. The first HONEY was minted on November 1, 2022 as part of Block 158569587.

There is a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion HONEY. 
 

HONEY was initially allocated in the following manner:

  • 40% to contributors as rewards
  • 20% to investors for providing capital to launch the Hivemapper Network
  • 20% to employees for enabling the launch of the Hivemapper Network
  • 15% to Hivemapper Inc. for ongoing R&D and operational support
  • 5% to the Hivemapper Foundation for network growth initiatives


At network launch on Nov. 3, 2022, the Hivemapper Network began the process of minting and distributing 4 billion HONEY to contributors as rewards.
